CANDLE — Climate Change Awareness and Action for Nature, Diversity, Livelihoods, and Ecosystems

Project Overview

CANDLE is an educational initiative designed to introduce climate change learning into Pakistan's formal school system. The curriculum provides students from Grades 1 to 10 with a foundational understanding of climate science, environmental change, biodiversity, nature-based systems, sustainable lifestyles, and climate adaptation. The programme is structured to ensure that students engage with climate concepts in a way that is simple, practical, and age-appropriate. Through classroom lessons, interactive activities, and guided discussions, CANDLE helps young learners understand how climate change affects their communities, ecosystems, livelihoods, and future. By integrating climate education into mainstream schooling, CANDLE moves beyond awareness-building and supports long-term behavioral change, encouraging students to become responsible environmental citizens and future climate leaders.

Why This Project Matters

CANDLE is designed to become a national model for climate change education in Pakistan, helping embed climate literacy into the learning journey of students from an early age. By combining WeatherWalay's climate intelligence expertise with TRC's educational experience, and with the support of the U.S. Consulate, the programme aims to prepare a generation that is informed, responsible, and ready to contribute to a more climate-resilient and sustainable Pakistan.
